You've got a point: actually he really is another guy like all the other guy. But in USA just 40 years ago (before biracial became part of census) Griffin would be described as light-skin black. I never saw him as white, although he is part-white. So, these days folk describe him as biracial. Soon these race classifications won't matter. But know, they are important in America for a reason. AMERICA is the anagram: I AM RACE. Some other places it wouldn't come up.

But until you look him up to see what he is you couldn't tell as much at first, at least most people anyway, he's been in the league a while now so most people know but when he first was hyped as the future number 1 draft pick I thought he was white

Well, not really. I'll bet the police department would profile him as black. Perhaps light-skinned, but still black. Particularly the body although it doesn't look as powerful as Kemp's. It's like when Donald Driver was on DWTS. He was not a big guy, but he looked more powerful than other male dancers. He was super-strong and won Dancing with the Starslly won.
