My 3 year old Samsung HLS5687W. It started out taking a while to turn on, although you could see that the lamp was powered on from visibile light shinigh through the vents on the rear of the set, then progressed into this greenish, bluish color phazing picture freezing problem. Sometimes it will totally lock up and the screen will go to black and all 3 led's flash on the front. I have talked to samsung and they want to send out a tech. It is out of warranty, so I am will to DIY. If it is the color wheel, I have researched and feel quite capable of repairing this myself. I just want someone to tell me what the problem is! Help!!!!!!!!

you know now (hindsight is 20/20) but to everyone else who owns a dlp tv, do some research before dropping a lot of money replacing random parts. neither the color wheel nor the lamp causes the picture to freeze like this. it's a processing problem.

DMD board for sure. The DMD when out on my TV twice with the same issue. I fixed it myself using used parts.

color wheels do not cause picture freezing. that is a failed BGA either on the DMD control board or the video formatter board. reflow both boards.

after 4color wheels and 2lamps i finally had to take ot somewhere to be repaired.$350 later it was determined to be a bad dmd board that would cost an additional $900. i cut my losses, sold ot for $250 and bought a Sony lcd.
