Parts of Rolling Stones songs played by and with Taylor on acoustic and electric guitar. The very first measures are stunning imo.

Does anybody know more about the origins of the recordings. Some are clear to me, some not. Mick is a fantastic player, but often difficult to get along with.

Encore un merveilleux aperçu du talent inégalé de Taylor qui tutoie les étoiles de par son feeling sans égal et sa maitrise de la Les Paul qu' il partage avec l' autre grand Mike , Bloomfield , amen....

Mick Taylor's vibrato technique was simply delicious?

To me sometimes he did and much of the time it was right on. Taylor was sort of a statue on stage just jamming though. When it was good, it was really really good.

I like Taylor's playing too but Richards was the inventor of all those delicious riffs. I hope that doesn't diminish Taylor's contribution to the band while he was there.

As we have grown with the stones we all know mick liked the spotlight, when taylor was on stage the spotlight was very much on taylor and his guitar.

I agree. I mean Jack Bruce &Mick Taylor! That band with that talent at bass and guitar should have kicked some major major ass with a few platinum albums,sold-out concerts galore& what do you get from them???? PATHETICALLY LITTLE! Just something from the Old Grey Whistle whatever. DONT' get me wrong, I love Mick Taylor, saw him w/ John Mayall in 2005. I love hearing all his riffs, his solos. I wrote about him in Wikipedia about him, but damn he should have had MORE to show for such talent!

I like Taylor's melodies in the beginning, then they go on and on....the best Stones to me is the compressed energy of Satisfaction, Paint It Black, Sympathy or Shattered. '70s guitar soloing just became interesting to professional guitar players and not whether it served the song itself.

Amen. Mick Jagger has stated this numerous times. He has to be politically correct because Ronnie Wood is no slouch, and he has been a dedicated Stones soldier for all these years... But even Ronnie would tell you - they all admire and love Mick Taylor

I agree with your observation that the Stones are all about attitude and groove, but even the Stones themselves would tell you that Mick Taylor made rough diamonds shine like polished gems. Keith loved the way that Taylor made his riffs sound so fucking good, by complimenting them. Mick Taylor is a genius with a gift. It is a sad thing for all of us that he felt the need to move on, because I think that he flourished best while playing against Keith's incredible feel.

any musician needs songs to play . fuksake, keith wrote them! His song-writing prowess put the stones on the world map for years before mick taylor came into the picture. Why wouldnt they add a great guitarist at this point anyway. Leave talent-quest judgements out of rock, thats for the idiot box which is now spewing cabaret FOR YOU!
  14. Rolling Ormond, at 09/24/2012 17:11, says:
Taylor overplayed and didn't sound like a part of the band most of the time. The Stones are about attitude and groove, not some endlessly soloing guitar played.

pois e...pelo que ouço taylor dava suporte a keith...que compunha todo trabalho. muito apito e pouca musica. imaginem os stones sem o genio keith...o que daria....agora imaginem mick taylor e ron wood....ai seria uma varzea.

I agree that Mike Taylor was far from Keit, it was just a drug addict and drunkard.
  17. Rita Ray, at 07/25/2012 13:33, says:
You know I never thought of that but your right Jagger did sing around his playing that's for sure - just listen to the live shows - they worked very well together - after all these years the sound and quality are still so good that they could've been recorded yesterday and think that just about says it all.
  18. larkyleroy, at 07/02/2012 13:15, says:
I love mick but the stones were still great after he left. I havent liked them much after wyman left. I think that was a bigger loss to their sound.

Actually, in some of his interviews Mick Taylor mentions that leaving the Stones wasn't the biggest mistake he made. He says that joining the Stones in the first place was an error in judgement ! Here's just one of the quotes from Mick... "No, I don't regret leaving. People who really know me ask whether I regret joining the Stones. To me, that's a far more astute question.' No matter what, Mick made the Stones much better. He was and still is one of the most amazing guitarists ever.

hi where were the early acoustic bits from? available for download or purchase anywhere?

    You got it in one.

I totally agree. It was a bad decision to quit and he knows it. His leaving was at the detriment of himself and the band (and us, of course ;))
  23. Rita Ray, at 05/12/2012 19:08, says:
He made a BIG BIG Mistake in leaving.....too many outside influences and inside (Bill Wyman- don't get me wrong love Bill to bits but bet he stirred it up abit). In my view for all his massive talents he NEEDED to stay with the Stones - they really brought his playing out and with all this talk of not coping with the drugs going around in the Stones - well at least it was MONITORED unlike Jack Bruce who was (at that time the biggest drug user around- with a shit band and NO MONITORING).
  24. kpzrocks, at 04/03/2012 03:35, says:
actually when he decided to leave the band, Mick asked him to take 6 months to decide. He decided to leave any way....
  25. kpzrocks, at 04/03/2012 03:27, says:
Mick Taylor was a better player than Keith. He was the true musician in the band..
