Description:

It's supposed to be a retelling of just about every origin of man myth: our creators create us, sees that we are wicked, then tries to destroy us. Sort of like the old testament God. There's also themes of self-sacrifice, similar to the story of Prometheus or of Jesus. I got the symbolic gestures at least, it's just that the plot itself, the characters, and the dialogue were all fucking terrible.

Actually, the characters motivations were the only parts of the film that WERE clear. The film is intentionally ambiguous and open-ended in a way few major films ever are. It's amazing how your advanced mind was able to find clarity in a film whose makers intentionally did not provide it.

With the huge lapses in character for the guy with the mohawk and Wraith Spall, the huge incompetence of every character that was apparently carefully chosen for this apparently very important mission, along with the entire film having little or no resolution just for the sake of a sequel and because Damon Lindelof. Direction was sublime though, and acting, and set design, just about everything was great except the script, and maybe the makeup on Weyland.

The engineers only created humans so that they could create a breeding ground for the Xenomorphs(aliens).....and the reason for that was because they planned to use the xenomorphs as a weapon against the Yautja(predators)...because if you seen the "alien vs. predator requiem" movie a engineer helmet was shown as a war trophy....
