Sharp shows 8K resolution prototype TV

LG and Toshiba have already shown HDTVs with twice the resolution of 1080p, aka, "4K", but Sharp is going one better by showing its prototype 85-inch 8K television at CES 2012

    Imax digital doesnt have 8K, it is still on 2k. Theatres are still struggling to upgrade to 4k, and there are no 8k theatres or movies. Most movies are finished and delivered on 2k, with some delivered on 4k. So far only a handful 70mm films have been scanned at 8k, even then most of them were finished on 4k.

    8k is pretty much the limmed, if you sitting at the recoment distance, the resolution is pretty much the same as a human eye, so we dont need any higher unless we are going to sit closer to it

    These things actually give off a subtle 3D effect even from a recorded video on Youtube (i wonder how much more noticeable it is when you are really there). I'm guessing that if you crank up the resolution even more, you will be able to see 3D without a 3D TV. That is cool.
