I'll take a pic. it seems like it was for seating something but as I look at the internals it seem like it's worthless. Thanks for the help.

Hex, when I took out my color wheel, a small piece of black styrafoam (spelling) fell out and I'm not sure exactly what it's doing or if it's even needed. If you like, I can take a pic of it and point you to it.

Thanks for posting. Took mine apart today and the color wheel was missing and looked like a christmas bulb shattered at the bottom of its home. Can you let me know where and what one you bought to replace the failed unit? TIA! Dan

Just wanted to say "THANK YOU VERY MUCH" for the tutorial on replacing the color wheel ! I had my computer setting next to me as I watched your instructions at the same time I worked on my tv. Everything worked out perfect and the tv was the same model as mine, which made it very easy. I did have to pull the jumper after I had closed it up, but that was no problem. Thx for saving me $400+ in a service call. What I know now, I actually can replace the color wheel in less than 15 min. Thx again !

I too followed your instructions and got it all done in about 30 minutes. I didn't pay attention to the ribbon and had it in backwards. Everything powered up but the lamp would not turn on. After reading the above post, I switched the ribbon (without taking it out again) and presto...DLP is working perfectly. ** I'm a female and fixed it! Thanks for the great detailed video.

thanks for the tutorial HEX. everything worked perfectly, well almost perfectly. gonna have to go back in and fix one of those rubber gaskets as i see a darker spot in the bottom left corner of the tv. all in all, slightly different tv models but your info was very helpful to say the least. thank you.

The buzzing that most people hear is because the bearings in the color wheel have gone bad.

really helpful thank you for posting this...but my colour wheel is buzzing like a bee and its pretty loud and also when i spin it it doesnt spin like the one u took out but it has no ring around the outter side of the colour disk..i think its buzzing because the motor is working to hard to make it spin but im not to sure...do you have any ideas? thank you

Excellent video series! I'd much rather watch someone doing a project for first time - mistakes and all - then a professionally made video by manufacturer that skip some parts thinking they are so easy not worth putting in. So kudos to you for taking the time to make this to share with all of us.

Good video. You didn't have to remove the color wheel housing as you call it, you can take the two color wheel screws out and the color wheel comes straight up. For those who also have issues with color after changing the wheel, there is a pin jumper on the circuit board that may needs to be removed. see >>>> fix your dlp dot com/2008/09/26/replacement-of-the-samsung-color-wheel-bp96-00674a/

Well i followered your instructios step by step, and guess what? I have my TV back saved a pile of $ thanks haxagontaginal. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!! had to take the lens cover off to get the ribbon back in, then taped it down with new tape. My color wheel was shattered

well it seems like the major problem in the comments is the ribbon...someone said that the metal part should face the back of the tv. so far ive tried both ways and my tv wont turn on. (the back of the tv was on in both cases)
  25. hexagontaginal, at 08/21/2011 18:42, says:
probably a good assumption. You can read through the comments on the videos. You aren't alone in having the color wheel shatter.
