(Season 3, Ep11) One of the best scenes from THE WIRE: Its the opening of "Middle Ground", the pentultimate episode of Season 3.

Cracker-jack, classic scene with Omar confronting Brother Mouzone. The dialog is electric, and the director's stylistic references to the "Western" genre is unmistakable, ironic, and certainly not an accident. Just like Omar's wearing of the classic cowboy "duster" is not an accident. Creators Simon and Burns envisioned his character as a character out of the Western genre: A gunslinger with principals.

This riveting scene (a typical Wire 'cold open') is here intact with the opening credits for the full experience (Season 3 had the Neville Brothers version of Tom Wait's 'Down in the Hole').

(Tidbit: any James Bond fan will recognize the Walther PPK as Bond's gun too)

It's true what they say, real recognize real. You would think mouzone woulda popped Omar because of what happened at mouzones hotel but as a real dude he gives Omar a chance to come correct. Just like when Omar coulda killed mouzone before giving him a chance to explain that he had nothing to do with brandons brutal murder. I wish they woulda continued mouzone's character after season 3. Woulda been pretty cool to see him go to war against chris and snoop. The wire was pure genius.
