Most ridiculous and ignorant comment period. Chamberlain was Dwight Howard on steroids, playing for 9 coaches in 14 years and getting traded twice in his prime, that would of never happened to stars that bonded with their team, Jordan, Duncan, Bird... Chamberlain was unclutch, shrink from big moments and allowed Russell to dominate him when it counted. He played with 26 All Stars, Russell played with 24. Guys like West, Rick Barry all said Chamberlain was more concerned with stats than winning.

youre an idiot. there was 9 teams in the NBA and most centers were between 6 10 and 7'4". the 6'7" centers are the 2nd or third centers coming off the bench. do some research

Wilt Chamberlain is a basketball God. He was born to play basketball.

ilt chamberlain is better than michael jordan

What kind of video is this? I has a cartoonish effect, the players don't look real and move in animation.
  6. 2dasimmons, at 02/05/2013 03:25, says:
Wilt Chamberlain was just phenomenal: basketball rules were CHANGED to restrain Wilt's dominance. He was that great. Michael Jordan would probably choose Wilt Chamberlain as GOAT.
  7. IsaDRayM, at 12/18/2012 04:45, says:
Yea but heres the thing: Player's heights back then were listed OUT OF SHOES. So you can add about an inch or two to each of them. I dont see the point though. Height is an asset- not the end all be all. Why couldnt Swede Halbrook or Walter Dukes accomplish the same things Wilt did? Also, Ben Wallace was winning the DPOYs against Shaq, and Ben was 6-9. Bill's height was 6-10 out of shoes, so it would be closer to Dwight height today.

Most of these guys weighed less than Lebron a SF, and were shorter than Kevin Durant, also a SF.
  9. mikeyj122, at 12/18/2012 01:06, says:
Other than Bill Russell and Walt Belamy, here are all of the centers Wilt faced the year he averaged 50. Bob Ferry 6-8 pistons center, Phil Jordan 6-10 205 lbs knicks, Clyde Lovellette 6-9 hawks center, Jim Krebs 6-8 lakers center, Red Kerr 6-9 nationals center, Wayne Embry 6-8 royals center. Many PF of that era were SG size by todays standards, I can give you a list of them also. So how would Shaq, Kareem, and Hakeem do against this bunch? Probably 50 ppg also.
  10. IsaDRayM, at 12/17/2012 23:53, says:
Who are the Centers that would be SF's today?
  11. IsaDRayM, at 12/17/2012 23:25, says:
Haha, Wilt faced off against the best defender to ever play the game: Bill Russell. He fared off just fine: I think he would do fine against Shaq too. Kareem is lucky, he never had to face Bill.
  12. mikeyj122, at 12/17/2012 22:13, says:
Most of the "Center's" Wilt went up against would be SF or even SG by today's standards. How many points would Shaq have scored if he had guys Kobe's size guarding him. This fact has to be considered. Even though his records and stats are impressive, they don't really hold up in today's game. It's not wrong to say he is the greatest center ever, but both Russell and Kareem have just as much claim to that title IMO.
  13. mikeyj122, at 12/17/2012 22:06, says:
Yes it is a game, but it is also the closest thing we have to settling these sort of debats. And it is damn realistic at that. But if you would have read what I said, I said that Wilt would be the best center in the NBA today. But how would he have faired against Shaq in his prime? Shaq was bigger and stronger. If you think Wilt was the greatest center of all time, fine. But Kareem has just as much claim to that title, whether you like it or not. 6 rings, 6 mvp's, most points ever, tuffer era.
  14. IsaDRayM, at 12/17/2012 21:39, says:
Hahahahaha this GAME doesnt prove anything at all. First of all, it only has Wilt on the Lakers. Second, its a GAME. Wilt would be able to play in any era
  15. mikeyj122, at 12/17/2012 13:21, says:
I'm not going to doubt Wilt's talent or ability. Would he average 50 ppg in today's game, hell no. But he would be the best center in today's game, no doubt. If you want to take Wilt or Russell over Kareem, I'm not going to argue that. But for me it will always be Kareem. And this game proves it. The Kareem on the Bucks is the best center in this game. Like I said when I think of the best players ever I look at their stats as well as their ability to play in any era. And Kareem fits that bill.
  16. IsaDRayM, at 12/17/2012 04:48, says:
From '69-'71, Wilt held Kareem to 43% shooting. Wilt also outrebounded Kareem while averaging more assists.
  17. IsaDRayM, at 12/17/2012 04:18, says:
Wilt had the power of Shaq and Wilt's defense is in the top tier. Russell could hardly slow Wilt down, and Russell is the best defender to ever play the game, and its not even close really(I can argue that if you want) Kareem's skyhook WOULD be just as unstoppable today though. However, I think that Kareem is a #3 Center of all time behind Wilt and Russell
  18. mikeyj122, at 12/17/2012 02:56, says:
And besides his skyhook, people forget how athletic young Kareem was. Hell he practiced martial arts with Bruce Lee, that says a lot about his athletic ability. He was a bigger, stronger, more unstoppable version of Hakeem. He just had a more well rounded game than Wilt did. I will give you Wilt's rebounding ability, but that is the only advatage I give to the Big Dipper.
  19. mikeyj122, at 12/17/2012 02:40, says:
How did Wilt have Kareem on lockdown? Wilt himself even said that Kareem was the first player he ever needed help guarding. I admit that Wilt was at the end of his career when he went up against a young Kareem. For me, when I think about who is the all time best in anything you have to look past their stats and accomplishments. Who could play in every era? We saw what Wilt would have been like in today's game by watching Shaq. Kareem's skyhook would have been just as unstoppable today.
  20. IsaDRayM, at 12/17/2012 02:49, says:
Wilt had Kareem on lockdown when Wilt was in his 30's with bum knees Wilt was a way better rebounder than Kareem Wilt was a better defender. When Kareem retired from the Lakers, and the Lakers replaced him with Vlade Divac, the Lakers IMPROVED 6 games. Food for thought.
  21. Tonio5100, at 12/16/2012 00:35, says:
No its not cuz Luke Walton dont even get in the damn game dude so how much of a FACTOR was he to getting those rings.... To be in this discussion u gotta be either the A guy or the B guy to factoring in to getting rings not sumbody who WATCHED from the bench & cheered for his teammates to win the ring for him
  22. abby fekadu, at 12/14/2012 21:45, says:
U idiot they took handchecking in 1995,and jordan lived off ref protection throughout the 90s
  23. WutangOFWGKTA, at 12/13/2012 23:36, says:
So your saying Wilt having less rings than Jordan is a valid argument but Luke Walton having more rings isn't. That makes your argument invalid. Wilt changed the rules of the game. They made the paint bigger because that is how dominate Wilt was. Hell in Collage they banned Wilt from Dunking on people that is how dominated he was.
  24. mikeyj122, at 12/13/2012 19:15, says:
And BTW give me 70's Kareem over Shaq, Wilt, and Russell all day. Kareem at his best was the best center of all time period.
  25. mikeyj122, at 12/13/2012 19:57, says:
Now todays players have it made. They changed the rules in 2005 after the Pistons won it, because the league wanted to help players like Kobe, Wade, and Lebron. But before that great defense could stop great offense, that is no longer the case. That's why whoever wins it in todays NBA is the team that is the best at penetrating into the lane and kicking it out to wide open three point shooters. Whoever executes this simple play the best will win the championship.
