You are correct in your statement that the earth would not look so curved to the naked eye. A wide angle lens was used to get the largest possible field. This will exaggerate the apparent curvature of the horizon. Your suggestion about the earth's flatness is absurd.

If you look at the curvature of the earth and compare it to the different videos of this same shot from the same ISS footage, you see obvious differences in it. Its called lensing, and they can by moviing the camera make what is a flat horizon seem curved. its possible that the earth may be a lot flatter than we have been told
