Narcissists are clustered and over-represented in certain professions: teaching, the clergy, show business, corporate management, the medical professions, the military, law enforcement agencies, politics, and sports. It is safe to predict that narcissists would be over-represented in these occupations. I know a narcissist that is studying to become a therapist and it is terrifying because he has no empathy or patience for others.

Report them publically. RipOff Report is a great webpage to start exposing narcissists who have caused damage without remorse or repair.

In fact, I am sometimes unable of emotions - like a sociopath. I know that the narcissist share similarities with them; after all, they both fall under Cluster B. So I sometimes use my reasoning as the replacement of my feelings. I share a lot in common wth the sociopaths, too. So... is it possible to be part narcissist, part socipath? I should not say it but from time to tme, torturing or manipulation of others gimme a great pleasure smetimes. PLZ answer, Sam. Thanks.

You know what is funny? It is said that the narcissists are generally unable to accept that they are narcissists and are constantly seeking for some form of attention. But I AM able to admit that I am a narcisssist. And I know I am not right every time. In fact, my shrink told me that I am one of the few people that are objective about their behavior. I am hyper-analysing, but mostly with right explanation. So I definitelly do not fall under the description of the "disease" in every point.

Lol yeah narcissists want nothing but to be a city cop where they called names, accused of being racist, and threatened with lawsuit for putting anyone under arrest.

I am one of your greatest fans Mr. Vaknin. I am so sick of seeing the Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy police kick down the doors and shoot peoples helpless dogs and then play the victim. I know that often the police are just devising fantacies of heroics where they play the hero. But the videos often show that they are making the stories up. I think the Amanda Knox cased in Italy it because of narcisists on both sides of the argument.

I didn't for a second think he was implying that ALL firefighter were 'N's. I do think he was implying that there was a disproportionate amount of 'N's' gravitated to that profession (and similar).; That's why I specifically used the word 'disproportionate' instead of 'all'. I agree with his analysis. But my argument is that we need narcissists. They may be in it for selfish reasons but usually they save lives - notwithstanding those few who kill - like Harold Shipman.

He is not saying that ALL fire fighters are narcissistic. Some "N"s gravitate toward that profession and the ones mentioned.
  14. Frank Galvin, at 07/04/2011 20:02, says:
But surely the flipside of this theory is that the professions mentioned are those that are 'public service' professions? Did a disproportionate amount of narcissists go through hell trying to save people from burning in the 9/11 twin towers? If firefighters or any other public servant is narcissistic, is it truly a bad thing? Let's compare these professions with those that are self-serving - small business owners, bankers, real estate agents etc.

Fantastic and on point..... having observed and experienced these people... I was aware of some percentage of these identifying markers.. but many I had "seen", but not attached to the personalities that I was "thrown into the ring with"... now I can understand much more about the why's and how's related to these personalities. .. These people ARE dangerous... they would rather hurt, maime, crush or even kill than to publically fail. We must recognize these people or be a victim.
