Know where this franchise lays safe? In the hands of the fans now!.. Independent film making. Roger Cormans "Galaxy Of Terror" was more innovated than Prometheus. Imagine what people can do today with just a computer. Seriously, Fuck Ridley! Fuck Lindelof! Fuck Fox! Why did James Cameron never come back to this franchise?... He saw that it was doomed after they killed off Newt and Hicks, which he developed a story for to continue going. Do your research.

Yes that is true, I guess it was just Hollywood wanting to exercise some creative control over the film, either that or Ridley must have admired Lindelof's work. Well at-least we know he wont be coming bk to work on the sequel, I just hope Ridley will still be onboard by then and it wont get handed over to someone else.

You know very well how things work in Hollywood these days. You know someone, you are a relative, you are part of some society whatever... How else do you think he got the offer. And Tom "The Butcher" Rothman was also the head of Fox at the time Prometheus was made, and Rothman lied about it as well. The directing and vision was there... To bad the substance wasnt.

Well I never much favored Lindelof either, I think he did write a poor script and I admit I think it was a fairly bad move by Ridley to have used him, just because he was more well known from Lost. I wish they would have just gave the original writer John Spahits a chance and stuck to his script, only they could have just touched it up more.

    And calling that "Prometheus".

Ridley Scott filming visionary directing Damon Lindelof pulling his pants down and shitting on plate, pulls his pants up and walking away and after 15 second of suspense orchestrated music a turd comes up with teeth squeaking, runs off grabs a 100 dollar bill and goes up in Ridley Scotts ass.

You got that right because Prometheus should not at all been about "who we are , where we come from" it could have hinted at it, at the most. This move was supposed to be about the mysteries of the space jockeys and reveal what the hell the xenos really are. I read the original draft saw all the production concept artwork which was 100 times better than what we got. I am such a fan that i even have been to the Chateau St. Germain in Gruyeres, in Switzerland, Gigers museum!

The symbolism in Prometheus is not the real problem here, its the big Ideas that Prometheus is exploring, about creation and evolution thats the controversial ticket, thats whats really bugging the skeptics because it is beyond their own comprehension.

The way some people take this movie seriously as if its saying it is actually real is pathetic. Infact the only people who have not kicked up a fuss are actually all the religious community.

All the science people moaning bout the opening scene yet theres nothing that proves that is earth. Ive saw reviews on here with proper science nutters moaning that the scene showing the engineers DNA break up like thats nothing like how it would happen, and yet they forget its a sci-fi how do they know exactly how that black goo would manipulate organic matter.

Theres nothing wrong with symbolism, at end of the day its a goddamn sci-fi movie. Theres symbolism in everything today, music videos even adverts and many people dont even notice it. Ridley has made a very clever movie because it hints at so many different Ideas, there are biblical undertones in it, ancient astronaut theory, but the beauty of Prometheus is he leaves it completely wide open for interpretation.

Its not that people dislike the symbolism because they can't understand it, its that when you crack the symbolism a heaping mass of religious shit flies out and ruins your shoes.

Ambiguity does not equal plot holes. We are supposef to theorize and figure things out for ourselves. Hollywood blockbusters have rarely done that since 2001, so people were confused.

The "half a billion miles" line was a figure of speech, the correct distance is shown earlier on YOU CLOWN. About the helmets, their equipment told them the air was cleaner than on earth. Also: who the hell cares?

It's true. He's been very fortunate with good scripts for him to visualize and try not to mess, combined with excellent casts for him to film getting on with what they do with the minimum of his input - the combination has have made his career and reputation - but really, he's just a good visualist. Now, started to believe his own "Director" myth, swallow it, and spit it out for some people to lap up. Prometheus, in particular, exposed the real extent of his limitations and they are significant.

@Neo Racer it's because Scott fucked up the editing of the film. Watch deleted scenes and see. I hope to god he doesn't direct part two I respect him. But he is obviously too head strong and failed to prioritize and see that effective story telling is better than convenient pacing which is why you hired an editor. Smh fucking Hollywood man.

So many people hating on Prometheus, I think critics seem to favor it, and its the Alien fanboys that seem to hate it.

Its got too many layers to it thats why and people cant take ambiguous movies, they like them simplistic especially when it comes to prequels. Anyway I look forward to seeing you do battle with Kal El soon ;))

I think Scott's Alien is MILES ahead of Aliens. So just based on the history, I think Scott was better suited that Cameron to do this movie. And Prometheus is a stunningly made movie. The visuals are remarkable, as are the camera shots. Effects are incredibly well done. All in all, Ridley Scott did everything he could with this movie. The problems are in the script. I saw it the day it opened, and several times since, and I've always felt that the script felt like a rough draft.

those blade runner visuals, and alien, still hold up like gangbusters
  24. General Zod, at 04/15/2013 14:14, says:
destroyed what? its not like prometheus was novel or comic, its a original movie and ridley did a great job with it. The movie has some plot holes but so did alien, no one liked alien when it came out and now they say its one o the best sci-fi made, so stop hating on the guy
