Let me answer them for you. Yes, of course Hathaway and Jackman practiced before the show. Preparation for the Oscars take a lot of time- she was only pretending she had no idea what was going on. He laughed because he was human and that in my opinion, was the funniest part. He obviously couldn't hold it in. And no, he really did not pay to do that tribute. That was just the concept they were going for with the whole opening. Hope that made sense :)
