Finally a 96* day to give this new little AC a workout. It kept my room at 80* (The temp I set it to) Just fine. I keep my room at 80* mostly to save power. I always run the fan in low mode (to reduce noise) The compressor was running about 60% of the time. I used about 1.8kwh running the AC in my room for 4 hours. I have gone out of my way to reduce the load on the AC unit, foam board in the window, with a reflective film stuck on the glass, wrapped tshirts around the vend pipe. I put LOTS of weathe rstripping around the vent slat. I wish this AC was more scilent, a regular in-window unit is much more quiet, but in applications where you cant have an AC sticing out the window, this is your only choice. For the price I am extremly happy with this AC unit, I gave it a workout and it took it like a champ!

80 degrees? Why have an air-conditioner? That's sort of like buying a fridge that warms your food instead of cooling it. I have this LG in my room, and it does a very good job.

huh? why would you think it would? the btu rating relates, albeit referentially, to the size of room this can cool. if the room is "open", why would you think this tiny unit would cool your whole house? you are an idiot, is the only answer. don't feel badly, as most people will agree with you, being morons themselves. several hundred years ago, you and your supporters were "flat earthers". think on that before replying. best wishes.

OK it's the second day with this unit. I was smelling creosote from my fireplace. Then I realized that with an exhaust, it has to pull in air from the outside of the house, that's what's happening. I did some looking around and see that they make a dual hose system, sucking in air from outside to cool the compressor, instead of using air inside the house to exhaust. So today I ordered the SPT 9000 BTU, dual hose for $360. LG not bad though, I will use it for something, ..garage work(?)

I just bought one of these(march 28), so simple, I really like it, not very quiet though. I want to buy one more. I was wondering if you've heard of a better one since you bought yours Have you heard anything negative about this LG model? It's nice that you can put a few small things on it also. I was mostly wondering if there was one with a better energy rating that is the same BTU. Thanks for the info, I've been wanting one for a long time and I LIKE IT!

No, louder actually. Unless its a higher quality unit, but more BTUs typically means more power draw, which means more noise.

would it be quieter with a larger btu?

yeah if any room is open or over ~200ish sqFT this AC will not work for that.

It doesnt keep the room that cool.. Maybe its because i have a large opened living room that is like 300 square feet

Yes, It will display the temp it is set to for a few seconds, then the screen will read the current room temp.

Thanks for the update and tips. Did you end up replacing the factory window kit with something else? Also, how long did it take for the unit to reach the temperature you set it to?
