This was a trip with Power Boat Adventures off of Nassau Bahamas. It was awesome! The lunch they fed us was the best, plus they had an open bar! (One always likes to drink before swimming with sharks, no?) There has been no attacks, and they have been doing it for 20 years. We swam with Reef, Lemon, and Nurse sharks, all very low on the aggression index, yet still very thrilling! Put it on your bucket list!

UPDATE: I have disabled commenting on this video. Many of you thought the video was a great experience, and understood the low risk. But the comments got too off topic and I didn't feel like keeping up with them. If you were greatly concerned about our daughter's well-being, I appreciate it. If you thought it was amazing, thanks! Either way, you can feel free to send me a message!

She was safe the whole time, experts agree. These were not great white, tiger or bull sharks. Also, we were both WITH Anaia the whole time, and by the time we were in the water, the shark's behavior was completely different than the beginning of the video. (you will notice if you look carefully) Plus, they don't feed the sharks when people are swimming, so the sharks don't have an association with swimmers and food. This was with a tour of about 40 people, including one other child. (NOT the first kids to do this, by any means.) They've done it 20 years with NO incidents. These sharks are not known to attack, and if you think all sharks are equal, please think of the difference between a Doberman and a Pomeranian... :)
And apparently you can swim with these guys at some Disney ride!

The media has naturally spun this out of control. We never meant for this to "go viral". Our interview was over 30 minutes, and they only took the clips that would sensationalize it. We have been criticized to be overly cautious parents by those who know us, believe it or not. We kept her rear-facing in her car-seat until she was three, she is not allowed to approach a dog she doesn't know, I never let her run ahead of me in the parking lot, she will be driven to school...etc.

For all the smartass comments here, I am a diver for some 30 years now, seen many species of sharks, many big ones too and nth happened. The only thing I did not like was a close swim by from a huge white shark. Many fishes are much more dangerous than this species of shark.

I still think what that old guys said about school bus is retarted but that's just wrong comparison lol.just watch that clip carefully n u will realise how little danger is involved. In addition this girl will have something interesting to talk about to her friends. So yeah I would definitely let my daughter do this in same safe conditions..

Okay when I first heard of this on Hodgetwins makin big deal of it n read all the commets I imagined a little girl in a pool swimming alone with sharks. While U can notice that 1st and 2nd clip takes place in totally different location. There is like 10 adults around her while shark are many meters away mostly chillin on the bottom. It's known about those shark that they r rarely aggressive.READ MY NEXT COMMENT I RUN OUT OF SPACE

I'm from the Caribbean. You're COMPLETELY wrong on how you think we view you guys. We actually like foreigners a lot & treat you guys great. Of course there's a few in the bunch like always who act stupid, like you for example, I doubt I'd like you very much. Maybe when we come out to your countries we should view you guys the same way. There's a lot of dangerous things yall do over there that we don't here, & you charge for the experience, but you'll deny that won't you? Smh lol you're an idiot

Oh and care to elaborate how those numbers mean nothing to me?
  10. trooper1822, at 07/05/2012 13:17, says:
Yes you are correct, they do get injured, but they calculated the risk and took the risk. And if that hurts you so bad then don't feel sorry for them. Nobody is forcing you too. Do you have pets? Dog or maybe a cat? The fact is that Every pet out there is an animal. While they may have been domesticated they are still just an animal. Hundreds of people a year are bitten by dogs yet I don't hear anybody saying "let fluffy be back in the wild".

You are right in a sense. But I wouldn't trust people with out doing my own research first. The science is solid. These sharks are not dangerous.

I applaud the parents for taking the risk of letting their daughter enjoy this awe-inspiring experience. YOLO

You also should mention that the shark attacks are not from these species.

Oh please!!!! All of you! Just shut the fuck up! What the fuck you know about that place? Also, look the description: "There has been no attacks, and they have been doing it for 20 years". If you're all a hole bunch of pussies and boring parents that can afford a cool trip like this, don't come all hating this video, just go seriously fuck yourselfs, It's annoying, each parents raise their children in the way they think is appropriate! It's their call to leave their daughter swimming with sharks

if you researched these kind of sharks you'd know they don't attack humans, so she wouldn't be eaten
  16. DPMH4, at 07/05/2012 12:40, says:
Ahhhhhhhhhhh they fed the sharks before hand. Still pretty risky if ya ask me.

what an amazing experience. it was under totally controlled conditions, and there was no threat to her. honestly this is, if anything, good parenting.

These types of shark rarely attack humans, like other people said, this sin't more dangerous then most activities you could do on vacation. If you don't like it or if your scared don't do it or don't let your kids do it, but raging over someone else letting his kid do it is none of your business.

those numbers mean nothing to u the fact is animal "experts" get injured or killed by these animals all the time i am sick and tired of feeling sorry for people who brought it onto themselves in the first place
