Underneath it runs Android 2.3, but you'd never know it because Amazon has customized it with shelves and shopping for Kindle books, Amazon videos, Amazon MP3 and Android apps from their store. It sells for $199 and has a 7" IPS display, 1GHz dual core CPU and 8GB storage.

Got it this week for my birthday! I'll use mostly for book reading and maybe checking my email if I don't feel like using my computer. Love the size and the access to a massive collection of books. Even if it's not the latest Kindle fire model it's still a great inversion!

To be honest, I have an android phone but I've never bought an app. You can find most of the top/useful apps for free and when it comes to games, I find that I get bored after playing a few times which is why I would never pay for a game. What's the point of paying for something if you are only going to use it once. Kindle Fire seems like the best choice for a tablet/e-reader. It's cheap, has the top apps and massive access to books, magazines, films... If you can save money why not?
