    Aww that poor little guy. They don't lose hair because they're old, he has that bald spot from distress, kicking hairs at something that was pestering it. That tarantula looks out of place for the area. Perhaps someone abandoned him to whatever fate was intended for him. He seemed to like you, tho :)

    Just to let you know...Dogs and Cat are extremely sensitive to Tarantula bites..if your dogs gets bitten then it will most likely die within a few hours. Just warning you so be careful with your dog around them!! Wouldn't want anything to happen to the dog, and also poke it with something first and if it turns around...that's your que to back off before it attempts to bite :P

    Aww, it's a male. It has a bald spot because it kicked off the urticating hairs there- I actually agree with you about tarantulas being less scary than smaller spiders- They're less creepy, fast, and they're furrier. Plus they can't suddenly dash into your sleeve, etc. They're more like mammals. :] Now if only they could be as affectionate as dogs.
