The internet giant Google says it will stop censoring its search engine results in China, and may pull its operations out of the country altogether. The threat is a rare show of a company defying the Chinese government. (13 January 2010)

Google censors political views in Western countries, so it should not pretend to be shocked about Chinese censorship. While Google has not yet completely censored my website dealing with The Huffington Post's censorship, the search engine has cut my website out of searches containing, for instance, the keywords "global warming" and "censorship" as well as "Huffington Post" and "censorship," but interestingly not "Arianna Huffington" and "censorship." Please see my YouTube channel (Xarkonul).

Beijing Scare Business Move out of China follow Google lead. The ripple effects of Googles decision were already apparent in the US technology sector. Go Daddy, the worlds largest domain registration company, said that Go Daddy has to stop selling new internet domains in China. News also broke that the Dell had assured the Indian prime minister of his companys decision to move US$25 billion worth of business out of China to a safer environment with a climate conducive to enterprise in India.

Why does China hate the freedom of Tibet and the peacefulness of the Dalai Lama?? Is this because of Jealousy of never being able to achieve enlightenment and never being able to dominate Tibet?

Google should make true to its threat to leave China to gain respect ! but it will be costly for giving-up market shares to new search engine Bing .

I have been using Google most of the time with occasionally baidu. WIth google's threat to pull out China, all my coworkers said we should try bing. After switch to bing for a week, I find that bing is actually pretty good. It seems that it is OK for Google to leave China, we can switch to bing now.

No, I use google in China all the time as I do in other place of the world. No body going to block it. Except there might be some regulations google need to complied with (e.g. no porn). The funny twist of the story is, the Gmail was being attack, but goole pull their search business instead of their Gmail. I mean, what were they thinking?

Well, the "term" freedom and human right can be search from google cn. Both in Chinese and English at least up until Auguest 09 in mainland. Plus, I am able to get on english WIKI without any problem. But not sure about youtube. So, I am not sure why western media and some of you foes barking about. I am not the only one there can log on to those "censored" website claim by western media, I send links to other people to tried, and they successes. And there are all using differnt ISP

I applaud Google for doing the right thing. The Ching Dynasty will not go away by itself. In fact, the Ching empire was no comparison as far as information control (cencorship) is concerned.

but that is china blocking google, not google leaving china per se.. isn't it? why has it become google threatening to leave, rather than china threatening to block?
