One, out of many, great lines from The Dark Knight.

Alfred Pennyworth: [...] with respect Master Wayne, perhaps this is a man you don't fully understand either.

A long time ago, I was in Burma, my friends and I were working for the local government. They were trying to buy the loyalty of the tribal leaders by bribing them with precious stones. But their caravans were being raided in a forest north of Rangoon by a bandit. So we went looking for the stones. But in six months, we never met anyone who traded with him.

...One day I saw a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. The bandit had been throwing them away.

Bruce Wayne: So why steal them?

Alfred Pennyworth: Because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Note: In the movie The Man Who Would Be King (1975) Caine stars alongside Sean Connery and in a scene where they are surrounded by jewels Connery picks up a ruby and says something to the effect of it being as big as an orange. Caine then picks one up the size of a tangerine and says NOW THAT'S A RUBY. Nolan (probably) used that as the reference for this scene.

Yeah a child in africa born into this world despite the knowledge that it cannot be fed or taken care of. Big woho, good job comparing a country in chaos with a stable society.

Hello there! thank you for this useful video. By the way, I notice a lot of people keep on talking about relationship course known as Melterize Man's Heart (just google it), but I'm not sure if it is really good. Have you tried Melterize Man's Heart? I have heard many great things about it and my friend finally influence her husband to treat her better using it, but she refuses to tell me: (

I can answer #1 for Batman at least, remember that he learned how to walk on the ice from R'as Al Ghul in the first one. He then found the most stable trail to guide Gordon and his men, don't know why you would light a fire on it though.

It's annoying when you listen to the dialogue and for one reason or another you can't make out or understand specifically what's being said. Thanks for putting up the text dialogue in the video description.

I LOVE this scene and this speech, but after the Burma story I couldn't stop thinking, "There are totally logical reasons. Maybe the perpetrators didn't want the tribal leaders to be swayed by bribery. Maybe they hated that government. Maybe they threw away the jewels because they weren't greedy and didn't care about monetary gain, but were only concerned about the political implications. It's not THAT crazy to not care about material wealth...but yeah... I get the point you're trying to make."

I don't think things pop into existence from nothing, energy exists and I think certain forms of energy can be formed into matter hence the creation of the universe. When I think of nothingness, I think of the absence of matter but the void was just energy, which I think is what people of faith refer to as God, until that energy transitioned into matter. I've heard it said that the lowest forms of energy are those we can perceive and I think that matter is just the lowest of the low energies.
  22. Flaya12, at 05/12/2013 20:10, says:
Hm yeah. Your arguments comply with recent assumption of physics that something can pop into existence from nothing. I don't agree with that for obvious reasons, but I can't falsify them, so we just have to agree that we disagree on this one :). I believe that existence itself excludes the possibility of nothing. And I think everything is determined in a way and that we tend to assume coincidence/chance when we lack understanding. Consequently I don't believe in chaos either
