Yes (and no). It has a manual ring that can be dedicated to different functions, focus among them. So it's not exactly a dedicated focus ring, but it is a manual ring that can be used for focusing if you choose (or you can use it to adjust iris, zoom, etc.)

does this have a manual focus ring like professional cameras have? Thats what i'm interested in.

I don't think you're doing anything "wrong" per se. IMHO the best free "special effect" is COMPOSITION. Pay close attention to the way you compose your shots. A well composed shot makes all the difference. With regard to lighting, switch your TM700 to manual iris and adjust. You can get by with house lighting, but you need to apply some creativity for best results.

How much and for the buck which is better this canon hf m30 or canon hf m 300 or panasonic hdc sd60k

Yes, I think so. You can definitely shoot the live image to TV via HDMI, but "broadcasting" it from there is another matter.

yeah I think they must have gone green or something and stopped putting the tags and stickers on the camera. I found a few recent youtube unboxing videos that didn't have them just like mine so I decided to keep the camera. Apparently the price for the camera went back up to $999 on B&H. I think it might be related to the shortage of supply because of the recent tsunami. Anyways thanks for your thoughts and feedback. I have a lot to learn about this camera. Take care!

That's certainly strange, but I have always had good experiences with B&H. Maybe Panasonic stopped putting those tags & stickers on the cameras? Maybe you should call B&H and discuss whether this is the case. I'm not sure of any way to see the number of recording hours on the TM700 (although such a feature would be handy).

I received the replacement today from B&H Photo and this one doesn't have the tags or stickers too! I'm not sure what to do at this point. =/

can you stream live true hdmi to a lcd tv? i want this camera for live streaming broadcast

I called B&H and they are going to send me another one as soon as they receive the one I send back. They paid for the return shipping too. I'm eagerly awaiting the new package.

If you mean a "picture in picture" effect, in Vegas you need to use track motion. Search YouTube, there are lots of great Vegas tutorials on here... :-)

I bought mine from Panasonic directly, but I would recommend B&H Photo. Lens thread is 46mm for your fisheye...

were did u get it from and wat fisheye would fit that

oh alrighty Thanks. ill let you know how that LED light works out too. Been working around with the editing program and putting up more music. However do you know how to umm how do i explain. Like you know how you will see peoples videos on youtube and it will be like 4 different videos in one? I dont get how they do that. My program just has pan which seems to only work for two videos, and its kinda weird.
  21. Sean Michael, at 03/17/2011 15:25, says:
Yes, I would be concerned - at the very least, it warrants a phone call to B&H.
  22. C.S. Michael, at 03/17/2011 03:40, says:
Hmmm. Yes, it seems strange to me that your camera is lacking the sticker on the LCD screen. You might call B&H and tell them about it. See what they say... if necessary, they have a good return policy.
  23. DELSHOETR, at 03/17/2011 00:59, says:
Ordered one from B&Hphoto and it arrived today but it doesn't have a tag attached nor does it have the sticker on the outside of the screen like yours in the video. I also noticed that other videos show the same tag and sticker. Should I be concerned that the camera might be a refurb or used?

It's fine to transfer files to PC using USB -- that doesn;t affect the quality at all. However, if you want to view videos straight from the camera to TV in best quality, you will need an HDMI cable. Note that the TM700 requires a "mini-HDMI to HDMI" cable. Don't overpay for an HDMI cable -- buy on Amazon, eBay, or Monoprice for CHEAP.
