Yeah, I never knew that, but he would probably be a sit in driver still I bet, I don't think Dale would ever quit driving completely. That man loved to race

2001 wasn't gonna be his last year. Rusty has been on the record saying they were gonna retire the same year and since he retired in 2005 my guess thats when Dale was gonna hang it up too.

And to think Dale planned to retire after the 2001 year, if only 2000 was his final year. What a shame, he never got to see Taylor grow up, or get to know his daughter Kelly's newborn child.

And we could possibly have another death. Did you see Eric McClure's wreck in the Nationwide this past year at Tally? That was a nasty wreck and almost fatal even with the all the safety features. That car helped him survive. More exciting racing isn't worth a life. I still think the racing today is exciting. Yes it's boring at times but that's racing. Not every race a long time ago was beat and banging for the lead either.

theres alot drivers that i hated to see retire from racing, richard petty, darrel waltrip, terry labonte, ken schrader, cale yarburough, david pearson, benny parsons, bobby allison just to name a few of my favorites, but i only wish i had gotten to see dale earnhardt retire.what a wonderful send off,he would have gotten.we were robbed of that,as much as we were robbed of finish of the best race ever for micheal waltrip and dale.i only hope that we never see this type situation, again.never, never, never!

I no i agree 100% hans device the modification to the car around 03 and 04 as well as the safer barriers are great.
  25. Nocstaa, at 06/04/2012 23:43, says:
Actually, the safer barriers, I feel, are a positive. The HANS device is also a plus.. Racing hasn't changed, the nature & environment of racing has changed
