I grew up in the 90's, and I honestly think the popular bands were as good as the 80's ones, Yeah, they were not nearly as flashy but they had the same talent! Matchbox 20 was great, same with the odd No Doubt, and especially the Goo Goo Dolls!

Even though the GBs are often refered to as a "pop" band I really don' like that term because it too general and it really does not indicate the kind of music they play.i mean Michael Jackson is a pop singer and The GBs music is nothing like his [ For which we should all be thankful] Now grant it they are by no means a hard rock band but some of their songs have a harer edge. How about just calling them a rock and roll band? their music is prodominatly guitar driven witout all the "pop" B.S.

Since the 70's the only blip on the radar was the 90's and you are selling it way too short. I'll take it over all the robot music that came before and after.

The 90's were rather regressive, bland, boring and pretentious for the entire music scene with very few exceptions. There were basically no good bands (please dont mention stp or Pearljam---they were awful) Gin Blossoms was an exception. They knew how to write a good song.
