You forgot to add the line "My insurance only covers $1000 per year, so I don't want to do anything it doesn't cover." or "The other dentist said I need 4 crowns and I don't have money for that, so I am here for a second opinion."

As for your mother having worse teeth than you, I don't really know what you mean by that. Does she get more cavities than you do? Does she have more restorations? If so, she's had her teeth in her head a lot longer than you so she had a much longer time to develop these things.
