If you've been having trouble shooting long shots, especially behind the line for 3 pointers, then you probably need to generate more power by using your legs. Most people think you need to use your arms and upper body to get the ball to the hoop, but your lower body has all of the large, powerful muscles that you need. Get down in the chair and extend your RANGE out DEEP!!

Your height is mostly pre-determined by your genetics. There isn't anything you can do to change it, so you should only focus on what your strengths are and develop those. Being smaller actually does give you advantages over the bigger guys. You'll be more agile, quicker, and faster. Go with those attributes and make the big guys look silly!

Work on "creating Space" for your shot. See our videos for help.

Coach, I'm not that tall, so how can I pull up a shot without being blocked ?
  11. Shot Science Basketball, at 05/14/2013 15:49, says:
Normally, player feet land a short distance in front of their take-off spot. We do not feel that "Sweeping or Swaying" your feet is beneficial to the success of your shot.

Coach should player jump straight up and down, sweep their legs or jump forward

Just bend you legs more and think this way: The shot begins in my feet and finishes off my two fingers at the release of the ball! Keep workin, you will get it! 1

Coach! please help me... I have been trying to learn how to use leg power instead of my arms but I dont know any exact drills you could do to learn how to incorporate legs into your shot, you said act as if your sitting in a chair? how does that work I dont understand?
  19. gamerachao3, at 05/06/2013 22:00, says:
Thank you. I have noticed that I don't bend my legs that much and also I found out when i jump I don't come off my toes that much.

  22. Shot Science Basketball, at 05/04/2013 13:56, says:
Brandon, anything that we are attempting for the first time is difficult. Just keep working and try to get that balance so your not lunging at the basket or fading!!! PRACTICE!!!!
  23. Shot Science Basketball, at 05/04/2013 13:18, says:
The most probable cause is that you are not "connecting the shot to your stroke!" Figure that the power for your shot begins at your feet and then is transfered to he ends of your fingers on the shot! Keep working on it and you will get it down. It is also possible that you are trying to get too much arc. Check this out with our recommendations in the video.
  24. Joshua Nabus, at 05/04/2013 05:09, says:
HEY Tom, I'm developing an arc for my shot. But every time I try to shoot, even I've done that leg extension, it is short? Can you help me?
