Wow are you stupid. And I doubt very much that you were ever a professor.

This is real life at our fingertips. Many teacher feel like saying what she says whenever this happens.

I've actually had some students come up afterwards and thank me when I'd address waste-of-time student complaints or questions brought up in class time -- though I needed to do that a lot more at other places I've taught. Not so much in my current position

I do still get that -- typically in emails, rather than office hours -- but it's getting more and more rare, strangely enough. . . at least with my students and my classes. Not sure why

"I missed the last class, did we do anything important?" I heard this three times in the past hour...

How many professors did you observe?

My data comes from years of empirical observation.

It shouldn't be discouraging unless you're the kind of student depicted in this video. Read the description. It says most students are great and the video is about those few who are really annoying. Is it unfair for professors to be annoyed when a student blames their shortcomings on others? Is it wrong to be annoyed by students who are lazy and do not put in any effort and expect everything to be spoon fed to them without any effort? As a student, I wish some teachers did speak their mind.

Despite their protestations to the contrary, most professors live for meetings like this. As a former professor, I'm all too familiar with the personality types that seek out careers in the Ivory Tower. Male professors have a relatively straightforward motive: they like being around young pussy. On the other hand, female professors love the power trip which accompanies their job. They were mostly fat, uncool chicks in school, so they get off on lording their pedagogical power over others.

    LOL C's are good though

Funny, Jessica, I don't see a web site called RateMyStudents. Why not? RateMyProfessor has ANONYMOUS students saying all sorts of random, unfair shit (yes, shit) about their profs. Why? Who knows? They didn't like the C grade they deserved? It amounts to drive-by character assassination. Why don't you go there and make your points about "insulting comments." See what kind of feedback you get. Many students are genuinely interested in their educations. The rest are on their iphones.

Lol.... But given the whining of randomtragedyx, "the dog at it" would probably be his excuse, too.

That's quite possible. Things are very different elsewhere.

Last time I was there they were minima, but maybe that's because I am in different country.

College assignment word limits are maxima, not minima.

A note on realism: I've almost never heard a college student admit that (s)he didn't study for a class. They're a bunch of opportunistic liars. If most students took the energy they spend trying to pass a class and put it into actually trying to understand the ideas of the class, they'd have no problems.

The automaton like voices make this even funnier :D I'm not a professor but I think like that too, when classmates do this!

I really don't understand why anyone would want to become a teacher. I mean, the pay, I hear, is not too great, and you have to deal with a bunch of lazy slackers like in this video.

Ooo students are winy bitches look at me giving 3000 word(well that's not that bad actually) essay on topic that can be summarized in about 600 words. Why you are writing bullshit that has noting to do wit topic? Because I can write all that actually maters( for example if its about historical person - birth date, death date, and why we should remember him (books written by him (and shot descriptions of them) in way less words. Nobody cares what schools he went to and what he died from.

This is the first time I've seen one of these things that seemed worthwhile. Still total scum though.
