Barnes should be careful not to talk shit to EARL, he might end up being torn asunder by the machine once it becomes sentient.

    Cool

wouldnt there be a problem with the robots consistency? like if he rolls in the same spot the oil would get picked up then eventualy throw him off?

What type of ball track does EARL produce? High-track 3/4 roller? Full roller using a counterclockwise rotation upon release (which I think only a machine such as EARL may be able to do)?

Looks like GLaDOS found her new hobby.

Well, it did say in the video that Earl could not make adjustments on it's own. The engineers behind Earl had to manually make it move boards. However, it was able to repeat shots with 100% consistency.

That's pretty sick. As for the top rated comments, the sarcastic one at least - you shouldn't neglect the fact that we cannot have everyone be a scientist, or a doctor, society doesn't work like that. Besides, being creative and solving new problems opens the door to new innovations. If you don't use your brain you're going to lose it.

its pretty cool to watch this, but a 209? wow, my grandma can do better

I want to see a video of EARL bowling a whole game.

Of course I have. For Barnes, a human, 209 would be fine, if a little dissappointing. For a robot, capable of perfectly repeating a shot, bowling on it's own turf, only shooting 209 is pathetic. Assuming a clean game (since any open frames from the robot would be ridiculous), how many doubles is that? As I said, a little pathetic.

have you ever played on a professional sport shot? i doubt that with you saying a 209 is pathetic

That'd be pretty freakin awesome to have an actual cannon that launches bowling balls and never touches the lanes. have the surface like a baseball so it can curve them in mid air. Thats the future of bowling. haha

ya because a mechanics professor knows about health and disease. Your a complete moron.

...and I recall the simple ol' days of rolling the ball down a little plastic ramp.

that is literally like asking a baseball player to come fresh into soccer and be better that messi
  20. MrThinroyy, at 11/14/2012 02:44, says:
True...but the main purpose of EARL is to get better information about the balls themselves, such as how the surface and the weight block react on the lanes, depending on the axis tilt and other things like that. With the speed that EARL could throw, and the accuracy it has, it could've easily just launched it from the corner into high pocket and carried every time...but that wouldn't have been as fun, now would it?

This certainly shows the actual meaning of sports: Human trying to become a machine
  22. MONOPOLY35, at 11/04/2012 01:55, says:
If Earl was so accurate he should throw it straight. Straight bowlers need more accuracy, but Earl is very accurate. Throwing it straight puts the oil conditions out of play.

    no!

They totally wouldn't notice the giant machine blocking their way of bowling ;P
