I think this can be said of nurses, is it worth going to a private school to be a nurse, one has to be absolutely sure of their intentions and the realities of attending law school.

I think you're correct in that many people tend to romanticize about how they perceive a lawyer should be. As you pointed out, most of the time is reading and doing paperwork. Sure, there are times in court, at least for me, but that's after a great deal of paperwork is completed.

This is helpful. I did go to grad school and seeking after 8 years to possibly go to law school. It was a dream of mines; and liked how you said we romanticize this career. If I do attend, Fall of 2014, it will be 10 yrs since I completed school in 2004 when graduated as a grad student. I have been unemployed so many times with two degrees and see that legal field is suffering the same thing!

Plus, it's all about who you know, not what you know. If your resourceful, you won't need grades, because you will know someone who gets you a job. School prestige and grades are not everything. plenty ways to make $ going to bad school/bad grades.

People will choose experience. The three part test is ridiculous. If you get bad grades, (bottom half). big deal, go out on your own. Be your own boss.

Grades aren't going to help you much. They will help get you your first job. but that's it.

Would you recommend choosing ranking over specialty? For example a 58 ranked school or 102 ranked school with a better health law program

I found my law school education a great investment in pragmatic terms but was very glad to have done a master's degree in philosophy and economics first because from an academic standpoint law school was not stimulating intellectually. I studied law in Switzerland where university is practically free so this makes a difference. In Switzerland all universities are of a good standard (there are not that many) and equally regarded in terms of reputation.

I really hate attorneys. I have met over 50 personally and can say I like one. I cannot find an honest attorney and have lost everything. I think most everyone else hates them too for good reason. I could go on and on but have some dignity be a gay male night club dancer and be better respected. Just my honest opinion.

Do you know what tuition is like for students doing a J.D./MBA program? I'm majoring in communication studies and minoring in spanish. I thought it was make me a great candidate for law school given that I do well and get a good LSAT score. But I have a case of ADHD bad enough that I need medication. I used to have so much energy that I would just go around the block several times with my ipod blaring. I always thought I wanted to go to law school because of my passion for victims of

What if the Law school is ranked high but the overall university is at top 300 worldwide. For example, Victoria University of Wellington, located in New Zealand, law school is ranked 19th worldwide but the overall university is ranked at 300 ? Is it worth going to that school ?
