One for the surplus fans. In 1917 the British and ANZAC forces in what is now Israel were runnning out of water. While the British and New Zealanders had tried to take the town for months, a last ditch attempt was devised using the Australian Light Horse.

Expecting the Australians to advance within a mile, dismount and attack on foot, as they normally did, the Australians mounted the last succesful Cavalry charge in the history of modern warfare - In three hours they achieved what the British Army had been attempting for three months.

Ironically, all Australians know about Gallipoli, possibly one of the greatest disasters of WWI, but nobody knows of the amazing achievements by the Light Horse in the dark days of 1917.

What amazed me is the fact that those horses went as long as three days without water and somehow managed to pull off a charge.

"Multiculturalism" is a program that is FORCED upon EVERY & ONLY White countries. "Multiculturalism" is a program to turn EVERY White country into a non-White country. This IS geNOcide. WHITE geNOcide. If you are White, and you object to your own geNOcide, you are called a RACIST! Well guess what, my people, White people, are catching on very quickly to the following two things: 1 -- Multiculturalism is a code for White geNOcide. 2 -- Anti-racist is a code for anti-White. /watch?v=203-BKE5MgU

The Turks/Germans were relying on the large distances of the desert - they didn't count on their opponents closing so fast - they should've strung barbed wire.

If you have watch the movie "War Horse" there a cavalery charge been whipe out by only 4 machinegun in 200m without artilery and air support.

They had machineguns and artillery and still got hammered mate.

Do you guys think a few machine guns and artillery could stop a thousand armed Australians from taking anything called "Beer"? As a matter of fact, the Light Horse were well dispersed, much more so than in the movie, and all that dust made them hard targets for the Turkish infantry. The range of 2000 translates into about 90 seconds/ two minutes at full speed on a horse. The mathematics were in favor of the Light Horse.
  16. battlecomputer, at 12/17/2012 11:09, says:
Okay rifles mayby but a machine can shoot about 2000 meter far so I think with only 2 machineguns is enough to whipe them off.

My grandfather was at Beersheba protecting the left flank (I think) in the Staffordshire Yeomanry part of 22nd mounted brigade. I have his medals stirrups and spurs and still remember him talking about his service but we knew never to ask him about the battles he diddnt like to talk about them.

The aussies moved so fast that the enemy couldn't adjust the sights on rifles, mg's and artillery guns fast enough, they ran through it and because of moving so fast everything was going over their heads
  19. battlecomputer, at 12/11/2012 14:21, says:
Not possible because machinegun; airplane and even artilerie don't stop a cavalery charge? Normally a machine can whipe out a whole regiment with no problems.

So in other words, they were meant to be like 'Dragoons' of the 18th century cavalry. Infantry on horses, that would have dismounted if there was a proper fight. Yep, still heroic...
  21. gnarkillkicksass, at 12/05/2012 13:50, says:
Though these men were not cavalry, they were Lighthorse. Basically infantry on horses that could move fast over the desert but still fight like infantry. They had never "Charged" in big numbers before this. Their bayonets are the same any soldier was issued. Still heroic.

"the Australians mounted the last succesful Cavalry charge in the history of modern warfare - In three hours they achieved what the British Army had been attempting for three months." The Horses could smell the water in the Beersheba Wells, nothing could stop them, not man, gun or machine. The horses were couragous & carried our men to victory, smashing the ottermans & bringing liberty!

Difference between Cavalry and Mounted Infantry, All those other examples involved cavalry (armed with swords) while the attack on bersheeba used mounted infantry (armed with rifles)
