    The buildings were already scheduled to be demolished (and now have been). If you watch the "Making of..." video, yes, they used a non-toxic, environmentally friendly paint AND they cleaned everything up afterward (except the buildings obviously; demolition took care of that). The crowd watching loved it. Remember: they were watching depressingly derelict buildings, in a town where the weather is almost always gray & overcast...come to life in colors during a VERY brief period of sunshine :-)

    In my humble opinion, the only difference between this and a true work of art (by today standards, of course) is that this one doesn't hide what's been sold.
