But DNA tests can be bloody expensive.
  4. Rydiakumori, at 07/04/2012 22:31, says:
Papers often times get lost when the horse gets sold from owner to owner. Especially if they go to auction. but a simple DNA test can help you avoid and/or foresee any genetic- related diseases that horse might have.

Okay yes that is true some of the time but people are going to make awfull desicions for horses even without the pedigree, and I know that knowing my ponies pedigree has helped me keep him safe from injuries and diseases which his ancestors were prone to. It does not sound like it is snobs that use pedigrees to breed horses that ought not be bred but ignorant idiots who don't care for their horses wellfair.

i ride my horse with no bridle no bit and no saddle and he still listens. and ok maybe horses cant feel love but they still can be attached to their owners like dogs or cats my horse likes some people more than others witch means he has different feelings about certain people so why don't you explain that to me?

also, I am sick of people passing up on perfectly healthy, beautiful horses, just because they don't have papers. All they want to do is trail ride, but they want those papers as some kind of status symbol.
  8. Rydiakumori, at 07/04/2012 03:44, says:
To put it as simply as possible, I say this because I am sick of people using a horse's papers as their "licence" to breed them indiscriminately. They don't geld their studs because "his sire is X and his dam is Y" and yet the horse himself has never once proven himself. The same goes for Mares. As a result, we end up with too many horses and not enough homes for them all, then they go to slaughter, but the big breed associations don't care, they just want your registration fee.

those horses out in the wild completly free they don't love our horses tamed and loved who live in stables are different and they have been with humans for a long LONG time. and a horse doesn't have the same mind as a human slave does it doesn't know it could be killed if it doesn't work. ride horses care for and appreciate their owners period, don't tell me our horses don't love. you most likely don't own a horse and you have no idea what your talking about. probably just a stereotype

Okay to put this more eloquently why would you say this.
  11. CrewOfFirefly, at 07/03/2012 06:18, says:
It sounds like you have just had really bad luck my family owns a ranch and most of our borders either fix stuff themselves or offer to pay. If someone acted the way the ppl on your farm did they would not last long. I do know were your coming from though since I've had to help repair many broken fences.
  12. Rydiakumori, at 07/03/2012 05:50, says:
You blatantly disregarded the second sentence in my statement: They all have a purpose. Just because YOU don't know what that is, then that still does not make them junk... but considering you could not even find the "reply" button (which is why it took me so long to reply to you) I am really not surprised.
  13. Rydiakumori, at 07/03/2012 05:04, says:
All ready there, sweetheart : P
  14. HunterHolly Ridge, at 07/02/2012 17:01, says:
horses love being ridden its what their bred for. sure there are some people out there that are cruel to their horses but then the horse shows its hatred for its owner... trust mne if a horse dosnt want you on its back you wont be there long....

@evilyakko Why do youvsay that? I don't think we are so bad.
  17. mrsjenniferwheeler, at 04/09/2012 20:09, says:
That's funny. There definately ARE such things a junk horses. As in horses that are badly conformed and therefore not suitable for the original purpose they were bred for. people who are concerned about pedigree aren't necessarily snobs. Pedigrees matter in things like breed-specific shows. Pedigree also matters if you're in the business of breeding specific breeds. Having said that, there are plenty of good "mutt" horses out there.
  18. Rydiakumori, at 03/26/2012 08:49, says:
No such thing as a junk horse. They all have a purpose. Also, its not about pedigrees... its about genetics. Example: Every race horse has a pedigree (a decent one) not every race horse is a triple crown winner. All horses should be judged the way they do with Friesian horses are... if they aren't up to snuff, they geld the boys, and don't breed the mares... or else no papers!
  19. GrayHorseFan1000, at 03/25/2012 20:16, says:
only people with junk horses call people who CARE about pedigrees "snobs". Same thing as people who never win are always the ones who say they don't care about winning...it's only for fun....yeah, right

never had to worry as myself no bad animals.
  23. Syncraftable, at 01/29/2012 06:08, says:
And breeder, previous owners, access to breed shows, and any important genetic information.. For example, without papers, you won't know if a stock horse you're looking at has Impressive blood, and won't know whether or not you should worry about HYPP.
  24. 7466309change, at 01/06/2012 21:25, says:
Pedagrees are not for snobs. But is over rated.Papers means you know the birth day and dam and sire and farm.
