Candle Vs Subwoofer

In an older episode of Mythbusters, they tested if you can put out a candle with sound. First, they tested high frequencies, which did nothing. Then they tested low frequencies, which put out the fire. They found that 114 Hz is the frequency to match. When I tested that here, it did nothing. I found the sweet spot at 90Hz.

Nice try but the conditions of the experiment kind of invalidate the results. Also @kirbyegf I know you probably can't read but I'll try to remain as monosyllabic as possible. This guy has an interest in science. Science is the reason you have everything you take for granted, internet, games consoles, televisions, microwaves, medicines. It is the driving force behind progression. You sticking your dick into some slut is considerably less interesting. TL:DR Get the Fuck Out, you waster. =)

Of course it can. That's where the sound is the most powerful.

Sound IS air pressure. 100% of it. That air leaving the port is the sound.

lol obviously its a form of air, but its alot to do with the resonance frequency, its differcult to explain, we guess you'd find it by knowing the resonance frequency of a flame, or something around that area. the sound we assume has to suffercate the flame, so it should be perhaps a dence sound/vibration, bass should be a area to look at, as with bass you feel slightly differant to tops of sound, almost compressive.

What do you think sound is, exactly?

thats not a real experiment, you using the air generated to extinguish the flame, you should use SOUND not the wind/air of the subwoofer, try it with a normal speaker, just the speaker, it also has to be tested for viability, by that we mean, at such a level as to not deafen people or in distructive sense ie knock the building over.

port end you dickhead?? on mythbusters they set up the candle in front of the speaker! Check out my vid on how you sould do it I did it in (5-100herz) 1min flac file.

Its not sound putting out the candle, its just air blowing the candle out, like a person would... It'd take much higher sound pressure levels, and much bigger woofers than a 4" speaker to put out a candle. Btw, you can go lower than 20hz with an oscillator app for the iphone/ipod touch

    Next time try 10 - 15 Hz
